Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) emerged as champion in the prestigious CEHURD Moot Court competition, held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
IUIU’s team, comprising final-year law students and instructors, performed well to defeat Cavendish University in a highly competitive final. The winning team included Mukabire Moses, an instructor, and students Nanyunja Shakirah, Tamale Ahmad, Katushabe Shamim, Chelengat, and the president of the Law Students' Society. Notably, Nanyunja Shakirah shined throughout the competition and was named Best Oralist.
The judges commended the teams' legal prowess, emphasizing the importance of citing the Supreme Law of the land—the Constitution—as a priority in legal arguments. They applauded both finalists for their exceptional advocacy skills, strategic arguments, and professionalism.
The competition saw participation from some of Uganda’s leading universities, including Makerere University, Uganda Christian University (UCU), Kampala International University (KIU), and King Ceasor University.
