Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

The Islamic University in Uganda Participated in the 1st Muslim Lecturers Association conference at Summit University in Nigeria.
IUIU was represented by Dr. Adeyemo Wale Abdullateef, Dean of the Faculty of Law from 5th-7th Nov. 2024. The event featured prominent people such as His Excellence Prof Abdul Rashidi, the Deputy Governor of Kano state, and Prof Ramata Abdul Kareem, the Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo. Prof Abikan the former Dean of, the Faculty of Law, represented the CV of the University of Ilorin, and Prof Aibinu the VC university of Summit University offa was the chief host.
Dean of Law IUIU presented his research paper titled "Achieving Global Sustainable Economic Development Through Mudarabah Products of Islamic Banking and Finance Institutions" He analyses the norms and ethics of Islamic Banks through the concepts of Shariah which prohibit riba (interest) gharar (gambling) and Maizir (game). He laments the principles of Mudarabah Products to achieve global sustainable economic development through Mudarabah investment and products: by way of source of revenue to the government, shifting from Haram to Halal, boasting the business and financial facilities.
His Excellency Deputy Governor of Kano delivered the keynote address and stressed the importance of farming as a means to solve world problems. He said that it is the only way the world's food/problem can be solved. Prof Oredola, the CV University of Ilorin presented the second paper represented by Prof Abikan he laid more emphasis on the contributions of Islamic scholars through the development of the world intellectual. Prof Abdul Rasaq Alaro also delivered a paper titled "Ethics and Quality Assurance in the Tertiary Institution".
