Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

The Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and the Vice-Chancellor Bauchi State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) virtually to collaborate in research development in form of training and research activities, and in academic. The signing ceremony took place in Uganda and Nigeria respectively.
Prof. Auwal Uba outlined the areas of collaboration, including research and innovation, exchange program, fellowship, conferences, capacity building, and academic programs such as Medicine and Surgery, and Agriculture. The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that they intend to use IUIU’s expertise, such as research and development, to strengthen programs where they are still building capacity.
The IUIU Rector described the ceremony as an event that represented the ‘new normal’ with technology enabling people from different Universities to conduct business seamlessly. He thanked BSU for trusting IUIU and expressing interest in partnering with the IUIU in giving back to and building capacity amongst Muslim communities. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gyagenda said that the areas of cooperation represent a gap that needs to be filled. He pledged that IUIU, through the Faculties of Education, Health Sciences, and Females’ campus, will be the drivers for the implementation of the programs.
 The BSU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Auwal Uba expressed his excitement at having IUIU join the BSU community in this historical endeavor. He explained that BSU has been longing to partner with an Institution that would bring unique services and programs near to the people of Bauchi and Nigeria at large.  Bauchi State University is located in Gadau, Nigeria.
