Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

The Rector of IUIU, Assoc. Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda carried out strategic engagements with the Rector of GOP, Prof. Dr Fatih Yılmaz, and various teaching and non-teaching staff at GOP during his visit on the sideline of the International Staff Week event.
The Rector held a meeting with the host who thanked him for visiting the University. The Rector of GOP granted IUIU five scholarships for postgraduate studies to enable IUIU to enhance the capacity building of its staff in Agribusiness, Engineering, and other fields to be decided by IUIU.
It was also agreed that a Joint Programme be developed so that a student can have a certificate from both universities. Furthermore, the Rector of IUIU addressed the meeting between the delegation of IUIU and various professors and experts in the Teknopark* of GOP, where a number of resolutions were agreed upon for further collaborations through joint projects between IUIU and GOP.
The team agreed to have an exchange of experts as well as organising workshops in the following areas;
The meeting was followed by a visit to the Institute of Agricultural Research and the university farm.
It was also agreed that a joint Committee between IUIU and GOP shall be formed to ensure that the decisions as agreed are fully implemented for the benefit of the parties. Both Universities signed a memorandum of Understanding and a memorandum of Agreement respectively to seal the collaboration. The Rector was accompanied by Mr. Sewankambo Hamza, University Secretary, and Mr. Saim Celik, Lecturer and Coordinator, Centre for Capacity Development.
*Teknopark is an organized research and business center where universities, research institutions, and industrial organizations continue their research, development, and innovation activities in the same environment, produce value-added products, transfer information and technology between each other, and integrate academic, economic, and social structures.
