IUIU hands over the site to Contractors for the Construction and Equipping of the Faculty of Engineering and a Hostel (IsDB phase II).

Islamic University in Uganda has officially handed over the site for the Construction and Equipping of the Faculty of Engineering and a Hostel (IsDB phase II) project to VCON Construction Uganda Limited at the Main Campus in Mbale.

VCON Construction Limited won the award after the bidding process and signed the Agreement for Civil Works of the Proposed Construction and Equipping of the Faculty of Engineering and a Hostel at the Main Campus in Mbale, referenced IsDB/IUIU-PII/WKS/0002/072023.

The handover took place in a meeting held on Saturday 19th August 2023 at the main campus in Mbale. Various members of staff, including the Rector represented by Prof. Abdul Kaziba Mpaata, the Vice Rector in charge of finance, Academic Registrar Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar, Deputy University Secretary Mr. Rashid Kisambwe, and University Engineer Dauda M.L Semujju, were present at the meeting.

They were joined by representatives from VCON Construction Uganda Limited led by Mr. Prabhat Mishra. Engineer. Semujju urged the contractors to deliver a project that will meet the expectations of all stakeholders and avoid errors that may lead to losses and delays.

Mr. Mishra commended the university for awarding VCON Construction Uganda Limited the contract and promised to deliver high-quality results.

He also mentioned that the local community around IUIU will benefit from the project through the provision of labor and services.

In his remarks, the Rector represented by Prof. Abdul Kaziba Mpaata expressed gratitude to Allah for enabling the commencement of the project. He also thanked the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) for funding the project and the government of Uganda for its support in enhancing teaching and learning at the university.

Prof. Mpaata congratulated VCON Uganda Limited for winning the contract and emphasized the importance of quality work, adherence to project timelines, and the procurement of high-quality materials.
