The Auditions of the 12th season of the inter-university media challenge organized by the Media Challenge Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organization convened on 29th August 2024 in the Board room of the Females’ Campus Kabojja.
The event hosted by the university had some of the great media personnel, by names of Mr. Hassif Ssekiwunga and Mr. Ali Kakemba who were the Judges defining the performances of the 1st year and 2nd year students who participated in the Auditions.
The programme had several items which included News Anchoring, live reporting and one minute of fame both in English and Luganda. However, most of the students took part in news anchoring, live reporting, and one minute of fame respectively.
The judges identified a couple of common mistakes in the participants and advised them to put more effort in especially; energy, eye contact with the camera, the flow, and the pace of news reading among others.
In Mr. Kakemba’s speech, he urged students to engage themselves in various groups and individual activities of editing, news writing, and among others. He stressed that these would help them to identify their potential to work harder in improving their weaknesses and aiming higher to achieve their desired capabilities as a professional journalist.
They also appreciated the students for their participation and presentations and wished them luck in the radio contest that is happening in October, the second phase after the auditions of the annual inter-university media.
