Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

On November 13, 2024, a delegation from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), led by Rector Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, visited Mr. Murat Cetin, the newly appointed Country Coordinator of TIKA in Uganda. The team included Mr. Swaib Dragule, COMSTECH Coordinator; Mr. Saim Celik, Coordinator of the Centre for Capacity Development; and Mr. Mutyaba Abdallah, Administrative Assistant to the Rector. The delegation congratulated Mr. Cetin on his recent appointment and expressed appreciation for TIKA’s ongoing support of IUIU’s initiatives.
In the meeting, Prof. Gyagenda expressed gratitude for TIKA’s contributions to IUIU and underscored the importance of continued partnership. Discussions touched on various collaborative opportunities, including potential projects such as a beekeeping initiative in the West Nile region, specifically connected to the IUIU Arua Campus. This project highlights the commitment to supporting local communities through sustainable development initiatives.
The ongoing collaborative efforts between TIKA, IUIU, and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) featured prominently in the talks. The meeting facilitated a productive exchange of ideas, fostering deeper connections for future projects aimed at capacity building and resource development.
As a gesture of appreciation, the IUIU delegation presented Mr. Cetin with a plaque, commemorating the institution's gratitude and shared commitment to impactful collaboration. The visit concluded with a commemorative photo capturing this milestone in IUIU’s ongoing efforts to enhance partnerships and community-oriented projects.
