Hon Muhammad Ali, the Kaduna State Coordinator for National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has advised students of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) to avoid being over ambitious in their lives observing that this will push them to become corrupt citizens or leaders.
Hon Ali, who is also the former Minority leader of Kaduna state house of assembly, Nigeria made the remarks recently during his courtesy visit to the Islamic institution.
“Corruption has eaten down our continent, and this is because of too much ambition by our Political leaders or organizational heads who were once students like you before they got those positions. They want to achieve a lot in the shortest time possible while in power, something that has driven most of them to become hysterically corrupt” Hon Ali stated.
He nevertheless noted that having big dreams as a student is not erroneous but it should be an attainable dream that comes through rightful and Godly means but not misusing public resources, oppressing others or using dubious means to attain personal gain.
"These days, even secondary school students are already talking of owning multi million cars and magnificent houses when they finish school. I don’t know how easy and possible this can be but all I want to say is don’t be too ambitious so that you avoid engaging yourselves in corrupt activities to own things that you don't deserve," honorable Ali added.
He called upon students to always seek permissible ways of having money that are in line with Islamic teachings and encouraged them to continue focusing on Academic endeavours so that they become successful in life.
While reacting to Hon Ali’s message to the students, the IUIU Rector Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda also pointed out that it is against the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to dubiously own things that are not ones.
He appealed that the students should always work hard to achieve what they want because it is those that are gotten in the right way which are blessed by Allah.
