16.            

Higher Education Certificate-HEC (Humanities).

• Five passes at O-Level or the Equivalent plus 2 subsidiary passes at A-Level (a holder of 1 principal pass also meets minimum admission requirements)
• Students whose foreign secondary school qualifications are obtained from outside Uganda and are not considered equivalent to the Ugandan A‑level (Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education) but permit admission into Higher Education in their respective countries. Such students shall be required to have an equivalent of Uganda Certificate of Education with at least a credit in each of the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Foreign students whose studies were not conducted in English shall show proof of proficiency in the English Language.

• Five passes at O-Level with a pass in Mathematics and English plus at least one principal pass and two subsidiaries at A-level or the Equivalent.

3.                

Diploma in Guidance & Counseling

• Five passes at O-Level with a pass in Mathematics and English plus at least one principal pass and two subsidiaries at A-level or the Equivalent.

4.                

Diploma in Primary Education External Programme (DPE).

• Five passes at O-Level with a Grade Three certificate from a recognized institution. Such an applicant must be a registered teacher with a recognized body.

5.                

Bachelor of Education External Programme

• Five passes at O-Level with a Grade III certificate from a recognized institution and a two-year Diploma in Primary Education or the Equivalent. An applicant must be a registered teacher with a recognized body. Applicants with past Diplomas but with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience may also apply.

Bachelor of Arts Education

• Five passes at O-Level (including English) or the Equivalent plus two principal passes at A-level in Arts subjects both of which must be with a minimum of principal pass D.

Master of Sharia (English or Arabic Language).

• Undergraduate degree in Sharia-related Studies with a minimum of second-class lower division from a recognized institution of Higher Learning An applicant must be proficient either in Arabic or English.

Doctor of Philosophy in Arabic Studies

• Master of Arts in Arabic Language, and Undergraduate degree in Arabic Studies with a minimum of second-class lower division from a recognized institution of Higher Learning.

4.                

Advanced Diploma in Health Services Management

• Five passes in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and either Agriculture, Physics, or Geography, at O-Level must possess a minimum of two and a half years certificate in either Nursing or Midwifery and a subsequent Diploma in either Nursing or Midwifery or the Equivalent. An applicant must have a certificate of Registration from the Allied Health Professionals Council or The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council or the Equivalent.

5.                

Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management

• Five passes at O-Level in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and either Agriculture, Physics, or Geography. Must possess a Certificate and a Diploma in a Medical/ Health Related Programme or Equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning.
• An applicant must have a certificate of Registration from the Allied Health Professionals Council or The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council or the Equivalent.

OR

• Five passes at O-Level
• Two principal passes at A-level.
• Diploma in a paramedical programme a diploma in a Nursing Programme or any other Diploma in health-related programmes.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Registration from the Allied Health Professionals Council or The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council or the Equivalent.

6.                

Bachelor of Business Studies

• Five passes at O-Level (mathematics included) or the Equivalent, and two principal passes at A-level (including Economics, Entrepreneurship, Mathematics or Geography) obtained at the same sitting,

• Business Studies, Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Records management, Business Computing.
• Education with a specialization in computer as a teaching subject with at least two year of teaching proven experience
• Candidates with any bachelor’s degree recognized by NCHE and a postgraduate diploma from IT-based programs shall be admitted to this programme
• Candidates with any other bachelor’s degree recognized by NCHE and with two (2) years of proven experience in IT shall be admitted to this programme.
• And any other related bachelor’s degree.

15.            

Master of Science in Environmental Science.

• Undergraduate degree in science-related subjects from a recognized university.

16.            

Master of Science in Zoology.

• Undergraduate degree in science-related subjects with a bias in zoology or animal sciences from a recognized university.

17.            

Certificate in Library and Information Science.

• At least three passes at O-Level.

18.            

Higher Education Certificate-HEC (Biomedical Sciences).

• Five passes at O-Level or the Equivalent plus 1 Principal pass in Biology or Chemistry at A-level obtained at the same sitting, for biomedical Sciences and at least 2 subsidiary passes in Biology and Chemistry for other Biological related courses. Or a student with any other relevant certificate e.g cert in Nursing and Midwifery

19.            

Higher Education Certificate-HEC (Physical Sciences).

Bachelor of Laws

• Five passes at O-Level plus two principal passes at A-level. In addition, an applicant must have obtained a pass in English language either at O-Level or in General paper at A-level.

Post Graduate Diploma in International Affairs and Humanitarian Diplomacy

• A Bachelor’s Degree from a public or any recognized institution of Higher Learning with a minimum of a second class lower.

5.                

Masters in Law

• Bachelor of Laws degree with a minimum of second-class lower division or its equivalent from a recognized institution of Higher Learning

6.                

Masters in Comparative Law

• Bachelor of Laws degree with a minimum of second-class lower division or its equivalent from a recognized university. Also eligible are graduates of BA. Shariah and BA. Arabic with a minimum of Second class lower.

FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES

1.                

Certificate in General Nursing.

• Five passes at O-Level in English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics. In addition, an applicant should not have stayed more than three years out of secondary school and should be 18 years of age and above.

2.                

Certificate in Midwifery.

• Five passes at O-Level in English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics. In addition, an applicant should not have stayed more than three years out of secondary school and should be 18 years of age and above.

3.                

Diploma in General Nursing (Ordinary).

• Five passes at O-Level with a pass in Biology plus a principal pass in Biology at A-level and two subsidiary passes one of which MUST be in Chemistry.

4.                

Diploma in General Nursing (Extension).

Certificate in Enrolled Nursing. In addition, an applicant should be registered with the Uganda Nurses & Midwifery Council and should have 2 years of working experience.

5.                

Diploma in Midwifery (Extension).

Certificate in Enrolled Midwifery. In addition, an applicant should be registered with the Uganda Nurses & Midwifery Council and should have 2 years of working experience.

6.                

Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).

• Five passes at O-Level with a credit in Biology and Chemistry, plus two principal passes at A-level in Biology and Chemistry. Applicants with the following qualifications may also apply; a Diploma in medical medical-related programme such as Clinical medicine and community health, Laboratory Technology, Radiography, etc. Applicants with a Diploma in Nursing should have done A-level and obtained two principal passes in Biology and Chemistry.

7.                

Bachelor of Nursing Science

• Five passes at O-level (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & English), also must have a principal pass in Biology and a Principal pass in either Chemistry, physics, mathematics or Food and Nutrition A-level or
• a relevant 2–year diploma from a recognized institution of Higher Learning.
• Mature age certificate valid for no more than two years.
• Relevant Higher Education Certificate

8.                

Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences

• Five passes at O-level (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & English), also must have a principal pass in Biology and a Principal pass in either Chemistry at A-level.
• Mature age certificate valid for no more than two years.
• Relevant Higher Education Certificate

9.                

Bachelor of Public Health

• Uganda Certification of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least a minimum of credit passes in Mathematics and English in the same sitting.
• Uganda Advanced Certificate Education (UACE) (A level) or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes in the Core Subjects Biology, Chemistry, Food & Nutrition, and Physics taken in the same sitting.
• Other relevant subjects are Agriculture, Mathematics and Geography.
• All candidates for this programme should obtain minimum weighed points as shall be determined by the Admissions Board.

Diploma Holders Entry Scheme

A candidate must have the following:

• Good second-class Diploma in health disciplines.
• A good second-class Diploma in education majoring in Biology and Chemistry.
• In addition, the candidates should hold Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education certificates in related subjects.

Or

Mature Age Entry Scheme

Admission may be granted under the mature age entry scheme after passing the appropriate mature age entry examination. The applicant under this scheme should be at least 25 years of age and must have completed formal education at least five years before applying for the programme.
