REGISTRATION

Each student must bring with him/her the following for registration at the University.

  1. Original '0' level and 'A' level pass slips/certificates plus three certified copies of each.
  2. Eight (8) recent passport size photographs.

NB. Cases of impersonation or falsification of documents wherever discovered, either at registration or afterwards will lead to automatic cancellation of admission, registration and award with no refund.

  1. No student will be registered without the original certificates/pass slips.
  2. You are expected to pay 60 percent of total fees to register and before you start attending any classes.

3. Registration forms for year one students (freshers) can be collected from the office of the Dean of your respective Faculty. They should be filled in, verified and approved by both the Head of Department and the Dean, and must be submitted to the Academic Registrar's office.

 4.  Any registration after the Fourth (4th) week shall fetch a late Registration fee of Ugx. 50,000/= up to the eighth week of the semester. A student who will not have registered by the sixth week will be deemed discontinued unless a request for a dead year is made.

 5.  Students are required to register themselves using the university electronic platform for students called the Enterprise Resource Planning ERP System.

 6.  International students are required to have valid passports and submit them to the office of the Academic Registrar on arrival. Those from outside the East African Community will be required to pay (US $110) per year that is $100 for student pass and $ 10 for processing the Visa. This fee may be subject to change by the Immigration department, Ministry of Internal Affairs without notice. Note that No International student shall be registered without presenting full requirement for student pass including the fee.

  7. International students from the East African Community will be required to pay US $ 10 for processing student pass. International students shall be required to submit admission letter, receipt of 110 US Dollars and 10 US Dollars for students from the East African Community, student Identity card, original passport, two passport size photos and ledger from the University Bursar’s office. All monies must be paid on University Account.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATE & DIPLOMA IN NURSING AND MIDWIFERY

Requirements to be submitted to the school of nursing on reporting (Requirements are a must)

Certificate General Nursing/ Certificate in Midwifery:

  1. Two Clinical thermometers
  2. 1 tape measure
  3. Fetoscope
  4. A watch with second hand ticker
  5. 1 sphygmomanometer(B/P) machine
  6. 1 stethoscope
  7. 1 nurse’s scissor
  8. Gumboots (1 pair)
  9. 5 hand towels
  10. 2 boxes of surgical gloves
  11. 2 boxes of disposable gloves
  12. Metallic tea and food flask
  13. Three Crepe bandages
  14. Personal umbrella for community
  15. Black closed shoes for ward placements
  16. Light blue theatre gown and cape (see attached image).
  17. Reusable masks 5(Blue, Green, or white but plain)
  18. 1 liter of alcohol-based sanitizer and pocket (Small bottle for refilling)
  19. 750ml of Jik (For colored clothes)
  20. 5 Face towels

 

Diploma in General Nursing

  19. Hepatitis B vaccination bath number (DNE and DME)

HEALTH AND MEDICAL CARE

(a) All new students shall be required to take a medical examination at the University Health Centre at a fee of Ugx.35,000

(b) The University will provide medical care to all students at the University Health Centre. Complicated cases shall be referred to a referral hospital at a student’s cost.

(c) Any International student who dies in Uganda will be buried in Uganda unless arrangements of transferring the body to his/her home country are made by the parents or guardian.

(d) All International students shall pay medical insurance fee of 135 US Dollars per annum.

 

RESIDENTIAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

(a) Attire: All students are required to carry enough clothing acceptable in an Islamic environment.

(b) Male students should dress decently.

(c) Female students are required to dress decently commensurate with the Islamic environment.

The dresses must be long enough covering the whole body up to the ankles and should be long sleeved.

The heads must be covered with headscarf including the ears and the neck. It is an offence to dress otherwise.

(d) All students will be required to provide themselves with the following:-

(i) Pocket money.

(ii) Stationery i.e. at least one ream of ruled paper per semester, clipboard, pens, pencils, etc.

(f) You should have at least (US $ 238) for feeding per semester or Shs. 595,000/= (US $ 570) per annum.

 

ACCOMMODATION

a). Accommodation fee is Shs. 750,000/= (USD.300) per annum for Main Campus and

Females’ campus and Ugx. 1,200,000 (USD. 480) per annum for Medical Students at Kampala Campus.

b). It is compulsory for ALL FEMALE students to stay in hostels on the Campus.

c). No female student will be allowed to live off campus other than those whose husbands have requested the University in writing to allow their wives to stay with them.

  1. d) ALL FIRST YEAR MALE students will be required to be resident on campus hostels on the

first come first served basis.

  1. e) Students on Evening, Weekend and External programmes are not expected to be residents on

campus.

 

TRAVEL

  1. a) All Students will be required to transport themselves to and from the University.
  2. b) Students from the East African region, namely Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia, shall be required to vacate the University during the long vacation. All student residing in the Halls of residence shall be charged accommodation fee levied by the University from time to time.
